Tiptree Minors 7 Burnham Ramblers 1
With both teams ravaged by sickness and illness, the match on paper could have gone either way. Tiptree turned up with just a bare ten lads. This looked like it was going to be an uphill struggle. Tiptree started the stronger against the eleven lads and after three minutes had a penalty. Ryan D. stepped up to take it(this would give Tiptree some much needed breathing space) and fluffed it! The management team now looked worried. But with each and every boy giving above and beyond the best they could Tiptree dominated the rest of the half with Star man Harry scoring a hatrick and Ryan finding the back of the onion net. Tiptree 4-0 up at the half where warned that things in the second half would be harder. After two minutes Burnham scored a cracking goal to liven things up. The Minors dug in and pulled out all the stops and clawed back two more goals in an even matched second half. Harry added to his tally and sidekick Joe netted the last one. Great effort all round and just what the Minors needed for Christmas!

Tiptree Minors Dodgers 3 – 7 Valley Green
Tiptree were hopeful of a win after a cracking early goal from Connor Murphy and appeared to look the stronger side initially, there followed some excellent play from Owen Maddocks with further opportunity to score for Connor Murphy however before long the Minors began to struggle and even the excellent keeping of Jamie Sleet couldn’t stop Valley Green today, by half time the Tiptree boys were 4-1 down and went into the second half with the hope that with the wind now in our favour we could claw a few goals back. With the entire Tiptree defence recovering from illness it was just not our day today but 2 further goals for the Minors softened the final score and lets hope everyone is fighting fit after Christmas.

Torquespeed FC Benefit from FA Youth Skills Programme
As a Charter Standard Club, Torquespeed FC have been fortunate enough to benefit from the ‘Skills Programme’ recently introduced by the Football Association and rolled out to the county FA centres. Paul Barry is the Essex FA Skills Programme representative for Tiptree and surrounding areas and has been coaching in the local schools and football clubs over the past few months. Each of the Torquespeed mini soccer teams have had an hours training session which was funded by the Essex FA. In addition, Torquespeed is arranging further training sessions for the 11-a-side teams which will be funded by the club. Even the mangers have been put through their paces in a group session run recently! With the FA’s intention to promote football from a ‘grass roots’ level, it is hoped that the ‘Skills Programme’ will continue to deliver benefits to all of the youth football clubs in the local area.

Torquespeed Turbos 4 Fennlands United 2
Some good early chances for Turbo came and went with both Scott Wara and Callum Jones testing the Fennlands keeper with good shots from distance and Donny Ennew and Jackson Garnett were now pushing forward and also had good efforts on goal. Then Scott Wara took a throw just inside the Fennlands half which was flicked on by Callum Jones to the on rushing Jackson Garnett whose half volley gave Turbo the lead. But Fennlands equalised when they scored from the rebound of an excellent save from Lewis Wollington. Then some great wing play by Fennlands saw the ball being crossed into the box and knocked into an unguarded net. Turbo went close to equalising but despite some sustained pressure trailed 1-2 at Half Time.
Turbo could of got themselves on level terms early on in the second half but were just unable to get their shots on target, that is until Callum Jones turned on the edge of the box and smashed one in off the underside of the cross bar for 2-2 followed by another well taken goal to put Turbo into the lead for the second time in the match. Fennlands number 9 had a fierce shot from just inside the box that Lewis Guppy just got his fingertips to then another break away by Fennlands put their number 8 clean through on goal but Lewis Guppy pulled off a tremendous tackle. Scott Wara then had a good chance to get his name on the score sheet but his header trickled wide of the post. Then just before full time Callum Jones drilled home for his hat-trick, a 4-2 victory for Turbos and a Semi Final place in March.

Torquespeed Lightning 0 Uplands Rangers 7
From the start of the match, Uplands were immediately on the offensive but for the first 10 minutes Lightning showed courage and determination and soaked up the pressure that they were under. Lewis Cookson and Luke Judge showed once again how well they play together and on 2 occasions Korley Wraight up front was through on goal seeing one of his shots go just inches wide of the post. But the Uplands attacks continued as well. Their first goal was drilled in from close range followed swiftly by a second. Then Lightning were unfortunate to concede a penalty shortly before half time, converted with pace and leaving goalkeeper Thomas Humberstone frustrated having almost made contact with the ball.
A 3-0 deficit at half-time which Lightning seemed determined to make amends for but Uplands had the extra strength and skill and were able to add 4 more goals to their tally for a 7-0 lead, a score which could have been higher had it not been for 2 or 3 magnificent saves from Thomas Humberstone . But still Lightning stayed positive, Lennie Overbury played well in midfield, Jared Glasson had some great runs down the right and 2 shots on target whilst a further shot from Joshua Coleman rebounded off the post. And Lightning still had 2 corners before the end of the game, pressurising Uplands right to the final whistle.

Torquespeed Turbos 2 Dunmow Rhodes Tigers 1
Lewis Guppy was in fine form as usual in goal providing excellent cover and occasionally acting as a sweeper coming off his line and producing some excellent challenges to keep Dunmow out. Some excellent play down the left wing involving Lewis Wollington and Jackson Garnett led to the ball being cut back to the onrushing Rhys Lapthorne on the edge of the box whose first time left footed shot beat the keeper but unfortunately went just wide of the far post. Then the breakthrough, a good interchange led to the ball being played to Scott Wara on the edge of the box who took an excellent first touch between two defenders, took one look up and shot a hard low shot into the far bottom corner of the net.
The second half began with Dunmow gaining possession and going straight for goal with some very good passing and move play in midfield and had an excellent chance to equalise with the Dunmow forward just failing to get a strong enough touch and the ball went wide. The second half only produced a few clear chances on goal with Dunmow having more of the possession than Turbo would have liked but they all battled with pure guts and determination. Midway through the second half the game was stopped due to an injury to Jackson Garnett and was restarted with a drop ball. Donny Ennew was quicker to react and ran straight into Dunmows box, and with no challenge coming his way was able to look and perfectly place his shot into the bottom corner of the net for 2-0. Then with just under 3 minutes left Dunmows pressure finally paid off and scored with an outstanding shot that any keeper at this level would have struggled to keep out. Dunmow continued to press with another good shot that Lewis Guppy did brilliantly to tip over the bar, and a succession of corners kept Turbo pegged back but their battling ability and determination saw them through with a narrow victory.

Sporting 77 Eagles 3 Torquespeed Lightning 0
The matched commenced with Lightning kicking down the slope on a soggy pitch and as expected, Sporting 77 were soon on the offensive however Lightning’s resilience soon began to frustrate them especially when a Sporting free kick just outside the area was destined for the goal had it not been for the brave head of Joshua Coleman. With the score at 0-0 mid way through the first half, Lightning then began to create openings themselves as Luke Judge and Lewis Cookson won at least half of the midfield battles. It was also from one of Lightning’s several corners that Jared Glasson volleyed the ball however it was fired straight at the Sporting keeper. It was therefore unfortunate when Lightning conceded another free kick just outside their penalty area which this time was converted superbly leaving the Lightning keeper, Thomas Humberstone, no chance. Then just before half time, a run to the touchline by the Sporting forward seemingly saw the ball out of play however the game continued and she was able to cut back brilliantly and score from a narrow angle.
Lightning continued to focus in the second half which proved that they were playing for pride and the second half turned out to be very even indeed. Both Jamie Roworth and Luke Judge in midfield had a tough job containing the forward advances of the twin sisters but done well, and in winning the ball, fed through some great passes to Korley Wraight up front who found that his shots were just a little too soft to trouble the Sporting keeper. Further corners also saw Lightning pressing for goal but that final pass and shot eluded them today. Sporting had further opportunities of their own but only scored the one goal in the second half with a short range shot into the bottom corner.

Torquespeed Lightning 0 Dunmow United Sharks 0
From the very start of the game, Lightning dominated midfield with the trio of Ryan Leather, Ashley Hickford and Lennie Overbury playing some attacking football to feed numerous balls through to Luke Judge up front. The Dunmow defence however looked solid and everything that Lightning threw at them was bounced back to midfield. Dunmow also had their own chances but Thomas Rowland was solid with his clearances as ever and Thomas Humberstone produced a number of terrific tackles to win the ball.
With no goals in the first half it was still all to play for and Dunmow soon realised that they had a chance. Then Joshua Coleman that fed a perfect cross into the Dunmow box, however the pace of the ball was just to quick for Luke Judge who failed to make the winning connection. As the clock clicked down things began to get a little tense as Dunmow had a dangerous 5 minute spell winning 3 of 4 corners and with Lightning defending desperately to avoid conceding a late goal. However Jared Glasson in goal was determined to keep a clean sheet and showed he had very safe hands. Even in the last minute Lightning were on the attack again with Luke Judge through with just one defender to beat but once more Dunmow showed resilience and held on to the final whistle.

Sunday 7th DecemberTorquespeed Turbos 2 Braintree Town Blue 0
Early chances created by Turbos good play led to Scott Wara and then Callum Jones both striking shots against the post as the Braintree defence were struggling to cope with Turbo’s movement. More pressure from Turbo gave chances to Donny Ennew, Scott Wara and Callum Jones, but the Braintree goalkeeper produced some great saves to keep the scores level. Then just after 20 minutes Scott Wara picked the ball up on the edge of the box and fired a strong left foot shot past the keeper to give Turbo a well deserved lead. Braintree could have hit back immediately as their number 7 had a fierce shot from the edge of the box that Lewis Guppy did fantastic to tip over the bar.
In the second half more good ‘pass and move’ play produced and another good chance that the keeper cleared but only as far as Donny Ennew who controlled the ball instantly giving him time to look up and place his shot past the keeper and into the net. Adam Collins was on as sub and was his usual tenacious self snapping at the heals of the Braintree players regaining possession and passing the ball on then a great move down the right gave Donny Ennew a couple of chances to add to his earlier goal, one good shot with the inside of his boot and a great header were both inches over the bar with the keeper beaten. Turbo kept the pressure on until the end but were unable to add to the 2-0 score line.

Tiptree Minors Phoenix 2 – 6 Tiptree Heath
Another game of two halves for the last time that we will meet Tiptree Heath this season. Phoenix dominated the first half with fantastic teamwork from all players. Ryan Doggett had a shot at goal after the third minute, Mitchell Seabers shot went just over the crossbar and Jake Blowers had a lovely long range shot but was denied by Heaths keeper. Unfortunately a deflect from us put Heath into the lead at the end of half time.
The second half was a different story, Phoenix started off strong with Jake Blowers making a superb run and booting the ball into the back of the net, no sooner had we scored they scored, our heads went down and the Heath scored another four in ten minutes, making it 6-1.Towards the end of the second half Phoenix started to up their game, Mitchell Seabers determination to keep the ball paid off with another shot at goal. In defence Jesse Revell worked hard and cleared a shot on target. Mitchell Seaber then scored a well deserved goal from a corner taken by Steve Bdesha. Unluky boys, you showed passion and determination today and you should all be proud of yourselves!

Broomfield 1-4 Tiptree Minors
Tiptree started this game well, scoring two goals in the first half, the first courtesy of matt griffin and the second from charlie branch. Broomfield scored before half time, but this didn't deter tiptree as they scored two more in the second half. the first of these was a great goal by harry hughes ( his first of the season ), the second scored by jim harvey. Harry continued to play well showing some great passing skill as did elliot hawkins.
A solid win taking tiptree back to the top of the table!
